The most essential ingredient to a successful Kentucky Derby Party is the Mint Juliep, so make sure to have lots of the necessary supplies on hand at all times (a tremendous amount of mint, bourbon, crushed ice, spring water and sugar). Another important ingredient for the proper flair is proper food. Flowers, balloons and streamers can't hurt, either. Most of your guests will expect both to view the actual Derby (so have previous races on tape playing in the background), so make sure to have a satellite connection that offers this service for the party day. Horse race betting will most likely be expected as well, which could be as easy as using pennies or plastic tokens for the gambling side of the race.
