To throw a medieval party you will need to transform your house into a banquet hall fit for a marauding band of knights. If you really want to go over the top, and there is no reason you shouldn’t, you could use cardboard cutouts on the outside of your house to give it a real castle look although digging a moat might not be such a good idea in the long run. Visit a sign shop or find a company that specializes in medieval weapon art and have your very own shield with coat of arms created. You could always have a digital copy and glue them onto wooden cutout shields to give your guests as party favors. Food is the vital ingredient to your banquet hall, and a medieval banquet will consist of many different meats, potatoes and bread as well as flagons of ale to quaff. Inform your guests that they must arrive as knights and ladies and perhaps consider dressing as jesters and musicians yourself to give a good rounded feel. The guest of honor could be provided with a monk’s costume and be in charge of proceedings at the head of the large tables. To decorate the inside of your banquet hall you can either rent armor (although this will be pricey) or get life size cutouts of knights to stick to the wall. Decorative weapons can be picked up inexpensively if you don’t want the real thing and are another good option for giving your medieval party a real authentic feel to it.
